"Injustice wears many faces. Period poverty that keeps girls home. Lack of learning materials that starves young minds. We confront this injustice with resolve, with compassion, with action."— Raphael Kwame Akorli Afudzagbo, Founder & Executive Director
Our Objective
Education is a fundamental right — yet across Ghana's rural and underserved communities, systemic barriers, policy gaps, and cultural silence prevent children from claiming it. Spursbase Foundation's Policy & Advocacy Programme amplifies the voices of marginalized children, sparks national conversations, and pushes for the systemic change needed to make quality education a reality for every child.
We advocate through media, virtual platforms, community dialogue, and strategic partnerships — ensuring that the challenges faced by children in rural Ghana are seen, heard, and acted upon at every level of society.
The Challenge
Meaningful change for marginalised children requires more than direct service delivery — it requires shifting systems, norms, and public understanding. Too often, the challenges faced by rural communities remain invisible in national conversations and policy spaces.
Invisible Communities
Rural communities, marginalised children, and underserved families are frequently absent from mainstream policy discussions. Without advocacy, their needs remain unaddressed and resources never reach them.
Cultural Silence
Taboos around menstruation, mental health, and reproductive wellbeing prevent communities from seeking help and prevent institutions from offering it. Changing these norms requires deliberate, sustained advocacy.
Resource Gaps
Systemic funding gaps and financial constraints limit the reach of education and health interventions. Advocacy is essential to mobilising resources, attracting partners, and sustaining the work needed for lasting impact.
Initiatives
Our Policy & Advocacy work operates through campaigns, virtual dialogues, and media platforms that amplify the voices of the communities we serve.
